Provincial Transfusion Practice Advisory Committee (PTPAC)

PTPAC is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team of transfusion medicine experts and Transfusion Practice Committee members from across Manitoba.  PTPAC meets regularly to provide medical, clinical and technical guidance regarding blood issues to Manitoba Health. PTPAC supports the implementation of blood-related guidelines, policies and utilization management initiatives.

Goals:

  • Provide comprehensive “vein-to-vein” Transfusion Practice Services to all Manitobans with a multi-organizational, multi-regional and multi-professional membership.
  • Provide an active forum to facilitate communication between those services involved in blood transfusion.
  • Promote the safe and effective use of blood component therapy and plasma protein products.
  • Provide provincial recommendations in practice, education, competency, data management, reporting and policy that are evidence based.

Provincial Nursing Resource Group for Transfusion Practice (PNRGTP)

PNRGTP is comprised of Nurses with expertise in transfusion medicine and/or nursing education and/or leadership from across the province. Its purpose is to provide nursing expertise and advice to the PTPAC regarding provincially and nationally mandated transfusion projects and programs, and to facilitate and support the implementation of such initiatives across Manitoba.
